Salt and Light is a ministry focused on jr high school aged youth. We meet on Wednesday evenings, starting at 6:30-8 pm.
Our evenings consist of play, food, worship and some study time. Students are challenged to expand their knowledge of God’s word, applying it to their lives, and support one another in their daily walk with Christ.
In Matthew Chapter 5, Jesus calls His disciples the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world”. Salt adds flavor and preserves. Light drives out darkness and exposes the truth. Like salt and light, God’s people are to have a transformative and positive effect on the surrounding society. We are to make the world a better place.
We typically play, eat, and worship with “the Loft” group, then break out on our own for study and prayer.
We also volunteer in various ways. We participate in parades, serve others at the Topeka Rescue Mission and other local events. We have also participated in the Lyndon Trunk or Treat, and many of our students are active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and attend Fields of Faith.
